Not every business wants a permanently branded vehicle.
If you use a personal car for work, share vehicles between crews, drive a leased car, run a side business alongside a day job, or simply do not want a wrapped van parked outside your house at the weekend, magnets solve it for a fraction of the price of anything permanent.
$60 to $150 for a pair. Part of our signs, letters and graphics range and the entry point into our fleet graphics service.
Magnets need attention or they will mark the paint. Three rules, and they are not optional.
Take the magnet off, wipe both the magnet back and the paint underneath, and let both dry fully before putting it back on.
Dirt and moisture trapped between the magnet and the paint is what causes damage. It is not the magnet itself. Grit trapped underneath acts as an abrasive every time the vehicle moves, and trapped moisture with nowhere to evaporate to will mark clearcoat over months.
Wait 60 to 90 days after any repaint or panel respray. Fresh paint is still curing and a magnet left on it will leave a permanent outline.
Also never apply to a wet, dirty or freshly waxed panel.
Not folded, not rolled, not stuffed behind a seat. A folded magnet develops a permanent crease and stops sitting flush, and a magnet that does not sit flush lifts at speed.
Follow those three and magnets are harmless. Ignore them, leave one on a black car through a Texas summer for eight months, and there will be a visible ghost outline underneath.
30 mil magnetic sheet, full colour printed, UV laminated, with radius corners.
Radius corners are not a styling choice. Square corners catch airflow at highway speed and lift, and once a corner lifts the whole magnet goes. Every magnet we produce has rounded corners for that reason.
Standard sizes are 12×18, 12×24 and 18×24 inches, with custom sizes cut to fit a specific door.
Only to flat steel. This catches more people out every year as manufacturers move to lighter materials.
Many newer trucks and vans have aluminium or composite doors. Aluminium looks identical to steel and holds no magnet at all. Plastic body cladding, deep body creases, door moulding and heavily curved panels all reduce or eliminate contact.
Test with a household refrigerator magnet before ordering. Thirty seconds, and it saves buying something that cannot be used.
Also measure the flat area of the door rather than the whole door. Moulding, handles, creases and curves all reduce the usable surface, and a magnet sized to the full door will not sit flat.
If the vehicle turns out to be non-magnetic, removable cut vinyl lettering is the alternative and it removes cleanly with heat when needed.
Same priorities as vehicle lettering. Business name largest, phone number second, what you do third, licence number if your trade requires it.
Three or four elements maximum. A magnet is a smaller canvas than a van door panel and cramming a service list onto it makes all of it unreadable.
Not if they are removed and cleaned weekly. Damage comes from dirt and moisture trapped between the magnet and the paint, not from the magnet itself. Never apply magnets to freshly painted panels for at least 60 to 90 days, and store them flat rather than folded.
The most common vehicle magnet sizes are 12×18, 12×24 and 18×24 inches. iCandy Grafix produces custom sizes to fit the flat area of your specific door, and we recommend measuring the flat panel rather than the whole door, since moulding and curves reduce the usable area.
Only if the door panel is flat steel. Many newer trucks and vans have aluminium or composite doors that hold no magnet at all, and aluminium looks identical to steel. Test with a household magnet first, and if it does not hold, iCandy Grafix can produce removable cut vinyl lettering instead.
Laminated 30 mil magnets last 2 to 3 years with weekly removal and cleaning. Magnets left permanently in place degrade faster, both because of trapped moisture and because the exposed edge takes constant airflow.
Only on gentle curves. A magnet needs continuous contact across its full area, so deep body creases, sharp curves and moulding all cause lifting. iCandy Grafix sizes magnets to the flat area available rather than to the door as a whole.
