Clients photograph it. Candidates see it in the ten seconds before an interview when they have nothing else to look at. It ends up in your Google Business Profile listing, on your LinkedIn page, in the office tour video, and in the background of every team photo.
For the amount of exposure it gets, the wall behind reception is chronically underfunded in most fit-outs. Part of the iCandy Grafix interior graphics service.
Lowest cost, most extensive coverage. Your logo and brand pattern are printed straight onto adhesive wall vinyl. Good for a full brand wall behind a desk rather than a discrete floating logo, and the right choice where the budget is tight and the wall is large. Roughly $8 to $15 per square foot installed.
The default recommendation. Logo printed on the second surface onto clear, frosted, or coloured acrylic, held three-quarters of an inch off the wall on brushed metal barrels. The shadow gap behind the panel is what makes it read as expensive, and it costs almost nothing to create. Typically $400 to $1,500, depending on size and thickness.
Individual cut letters mounted directly to the wall, in brushed aluminium, painted acrylic, PVC, or stainless steel. Heavier presence, more permanent feel, more expensive. Detailed on our dimensional letters page. Typically $800 to $3,000 for a wordmark.
LEDs mounted inside reverse-channel letters throw light onto the wall behind, so each letter reads as a dark silhouette surrounded by a glow. The most impressive option available is the most expensive, typically $2,000 to $6,000. It needs power run into the wall behind the sign, which means planning it at the fit-out stage rather than deciding on it afterwards.
Often the best value of all. A dimensional or halo-lit logo mark paired with cut vinyl or printed wordmark and tagline. The expensive fabrication is limited to the one element that genuinely benefits from depth, and the rest is produced cheaply. We suggest this a lot to clients who want the impact without the full invoice.
Scale the sign to the wall, not to your logo file.
The most common error we correct is a 24-inch logo centred on a 14-foot wall. It looks timid, it looks like an afterthought, and in photographs it disappears entirely because the camera pulls back to include the desk.
As a working guide, the sign should span 40 to 60 percent of the visible wall width behind the reception desk. Vertical centre at roughly 60 to 66 inches from the floor, or higher where a tall desk or a counter sits in front of it, since the bottom of the sign should clear the desk line comfortably.
Send a straight-on photo of the wall with the desk in place and someone standing beside it, plus the actual wall width, and we will produce a scaled visual before anything is made.
Printed wall graphics: 5 to 7 business days. Acrylic standoff signs take 7 to 10 days. Dimensional letters 2 to 3 weeks because of fabrication. Halo-lit letters 2 to 3 weeks plus electrical coordination.
If you have a move-in date or an opening event, work backwards from these and add a week for design and approval.
Standoffs. Panel held off the wall on drilled barrels, anchored into studs where possible. The standard for acrylic.
Stud mount. Threaded rods glued into the back of dimensional letters, set into drilled holes with a shadow gap. The most secure method for heavy letters.
Flush mount. Letters sit tight against the wall, no gap. Cleaner, where the wall itself is a feature.
VHB tape. Very high bond tape for lightweight interior letters on smooth surfaces. Fast and hole-free, and the right choice in leased premises where drilling is restricted.
Every installation uses a full-size paper pattern taped to the wall and levelled before a single hole is drilled. Letters positioned by eye end up subtly crooked, and once the holes are in the wall, the mistake is permanent.
An acrylic standoff lobby sign typically costs $400 to $1,500, dimensional metal letters $800 to $3,000, and halo-lit illuminated letters $2,000 to $6,000. iCandy Grafix quotes by size, material, letter count, and mounting method, and we routinely provide two or three options at different price points.
The sign should generally span 40 to 60 percent of the visible wall width behind the reception desk, with the vertical centre around 60 to 66 inches from the floor. Undersized reception logos are the most common problem we are asked to fix, because a small logo on a large wall disappears in photographs.
Acrylic standoff signs take 7 to 10 business days after proof approval, and dimensional letter or illuminated signs take 2 to 3 weeks because of fabrication. iCandy Grafix confirms a firm installation date once the proof is signed off.
Yes, using VHB tape for lightweight letters and panels on smooth surfaces. This is the usual approach in leased premises where the lease restricts drilling. Heavier dimensional letters and larger acrylic panels need mechanical fixing, so tell us about any restrictions before we specify the build.
Yes. iCandy Grafix schedules interior installations outside trading hours where required, including evenings and weekends, so reception is not blocked while clients are arriving.
