Printed and Contour Cut Wall Graphics

The middle ground between lettering and a full mural

A mural covers the whole wall in a continuous image. Lettering is text with nothing behind it. Wall graphics sit between the two: full-colour printed shapes, logos and illustrations, contour cut precisely to their outline so they sit on the painted wall with no visible background panel.

You keep the wall colour, you get photographic and multi-colour capability, and you pay for only the area the artwork actually occupies. Part of our interior graphics service.

Where wall graphics are the right answer

Multi-colour logos. Anything with a gradient, a drop shadow, transparency, or more than about four colours cannot be cut from solid vinyl economically.

Icon and pictogram sets for wayfinding, particularly in medical, educational, and industrial environments where symbols work harder than words.

Illustrated brand characters and mascots, which cut vinyl handles badly and print perfectly.

Statistic and infographic walls in offices, combining printed number graphics with wall lettering for the supporting text.

Product photography on retail and showroom walls.

Sports imagery in gyms, school corridors, and athletic facilities.

Feature elements combined with lettering on a values or culture wall, where the printed element carries the visual weight and cut lettering carries the words.

Repositionable film for leased offices

If you are in a leased space and the condition of the walls at move-out is a live concern, ask for repositionable fabric-backed film.

It applies without wet adhesive, sits flat, holds for years, and peels off leaving nothing at all behind. It costs a little more per square foot than standard adhesive vinyl, and it has settled several potential deposit disputes for clients of ours who would otherwise have been arguing about paint touch-up.

For a two- or three-year lease, this is almost always worth the small premium.

Getting the scale right before you print

Send a straight-on photograph of the wall with a door, a desk, or a person in frame for scale, plus the actual measured wall dimensions.

We will produce a scaled visual showing the graphic in the room. Judging the size of a wall graphic from a PDF alone is guesswork, and it is exactly how walls end up with a logo that looked substantial on screen and reads as small and apologetic in the space. This step costs nothing and prevents the most common regret in interior graphics.

Installation

Wall cleaned and dried, position marked and levelled, graphic applied and squeegeed from the centre outward. Contour cut pieces apply much like lettering, with more care needed on large solid areas where trapped air has further to travel.

Standard installation is a single visit. Multiple graphics across a floor or a corridor run are usually done in one session.

Frequently Asked Questions

A wall mural covers an entire wall with a continuous printed image, while wall graphics are individual printed shapes contour cut to their outline and applied to a painted wall, leaving the wall colour visible around them. Wall graphics cost less and suit logos, icons, and feature elements rather than full coverage.

Yes. iCandy Grafix can supply repositionable fabric-backed film that removes cleanly with no adhesive residue, which is the right specification for leased premises. Standard adhesive vinyl also removes with heat on cured paint, though it needs more care on older paintwork.

Interior wall graphics last 5 to 10 years or longer, since they are not exposed to UV or weather. Most are replaced because branding changed or the space was reconfigured rather than because the material failed.

Yes. Send your Pantone or CMYK values, and iCandy Grafix will match them on press. For brand-critical colours, we can run a printed proof before producing the full job, which is the only reliable way to confirm a colour, since a screen and a matte vinyl surface render colour very differently.

Printed and contour cut wall graphics typically run $10 to $18 per square foot installed, higher than plain murals because of the cutting and the more detailed application. iCandy Grafix quotes by graphic area, wall surface, and access.
