A solid vinyl banner attached to a chain link fence is a sail. It is not a metaphor, it is what the fence experiences.
Given a decent North Texas gust, one of three things happens. The grommets tear out and you lose the banner. The fence panel bows or a post leans. Or the whole assembly ends up in the neighbouring lot, occasionally attached to a section of fence.

Mesh has visible perforations up close. Standing three feet from a mesh banner, you can see them, and the colour reads slightly lighter than the same artwork on solid vinyl because roughly a third of the surface is not there.
From twenty feet and beyond, which is how fence banners are actually seen by drivers and passers-by, it reads solid.
We compensate in the artwork. Type is set slightly bolder, contrast is raised, and fine detail is avoided. Send us artwork designed for solid vinyl and we will adjust it before printing rather than printing it as supplied and letting it look washed out.
Hemmed on all four sides with grommets at 18 to 24 inch spacing, which is tighter than we set on solid vinyl. Fence mounting needs more attachment points, both because the banner is longer relative to its height in most fence applications and because more fixing points distribute the remaining wind load.
Zip ties supplied on request. Use zip ties rather than wire, since wire saws into the hem under constant movement.
