Custom Rectangle Flags

When the words have to stay readable

Feather flags look excellent and they move well. What they do not do is keep text legible, because the curved edge distorts type and in a strong wind a swooper becomes a blur of colour with no readable content at all.

A rectangle flag stays flat and square against the pole. “NOW OPEN,” a phone number, a price, an offer, all remain legible in conditions that scramble a feather flag entirely. Part of the iCandy Grafix banners and flags range.

Where they work

Storefront entrances, permanently mounted on an angled wall bracket. This is the cleanest permanent flag installation available and it is underused in retail.

Dealership rows, marking sections of the lot.

Hotel, venue and event centre entrances.

Golf courses and event courses, marking holes, stations and sponsor positions.

Government, corporate and school flag poles, alongside or beneath the national flag.

Apartment and community entrances, for leasing and availability messaging.

Construction

Knitted polyester, dye sublimated so colour goes into the fibre and reads on both faces. Sewn hem with a reinforced heading. Either a pole sleeve, or grommets with rope and toggle for a conventional flagpole.

For anything flying full time outdoors, we specify a four-row stitch on the fly edge. The fly edge is always the first thing to fail on a flag, because it takes the most movement, and the extra stitching there adds meaningfully to the working life.

Single or double sided

Standard dye sublimation prints through, so the reverse shows a mirrored image. For a wordmark or a phone number this matters.

True double-sided construction uses an opaque blockout layer between two separate printed faces, so both sides read correctly. It costs more and it is the right specification for any flag people approach from two directions.

Mounting options

Angled wall bracket. Aluminium bracket fixed into masonry or a stud, holding a fibreglass pole at roughly 45 degrees. The standard permanent storefront installation, and it puts the flag out over the pavement where it is visible from along the street rather than only from directly in front.

Portable pole with weighted base. For events and temporary use, and it can be brought inside overnight.

Conventional flagpole with halyard. For formal installations where the flag is raised and lowered.

Ground spike. For grass, at events and on courses.

Frequently Asked Questions

A feather flag has a curved top and tapers to a point, which catches light wind and creates movement, while a rectangle flag stays flat and square so text remains readable. iCandy Grafix recommends feather flags for attracting attention and rectangle flags where a phone number, price or specific message must be legible.

Yes. iCandy Grafix produces double-sided rectangle flags with an opaque blockout layer between the two printed faces, so each side reads correctly rather than showing a mirrored ghost of the other. This costs more than single-sided and is worth it wherever people approach from two directions.

The most common permanent storefront mount is an angled aluminium wall bracket holding a fibreglass pole, fixed into masonry or a stud at around 45 degrees. This projects the flag over the pavement so it is visible from along the street. For temporary use, a portable pole with a weighted base works and can be brought inside overnight.

A quality polyester flag flown continuously outdoors lasts around 6 to 12 months in North Texas, with wind causing more wear than sun. The fly edge fails first, which is why iCandy Grafix specifies four-row stitching there. Flags taken down between events last several years.

3 by 5 feet is the standard and suits most storefront brackets. Larger 4 by 6 foot flags work on wider frontages and taller buildings, and smaller 2 by 3 foot flags suit narrow units and interior mall positions. Check your bracket capacity before ordering a larger size.
