Where most of this website covers print on flexible media, this is the work that gets bolted to a wall and stays there for a decade. Different materials, different tolerances, different failure modes, and a permitting process that most people do not know exists until they are three weeks into it.

Most sign quotes present material as a price ladder and leave the customer to guess. Here is what each one is actually for.
Two thin aluminium skins bonded to a solid plastic core. Rigid, dead flat, fully weatherproof, will not rot, rust, warp, or absorb water.
This is the default for exterior flat signage, and it is the right answer for most building and site signs. If somebody quotes you PVC for a permanent exterior panel because it is cheaper, this is the material they should have specified instead.
Lightweight, easy to cut and route into shapes, low cost. Indoors, it lasts indefinitely. Outdoors in Texas, it expands, contracts, and bows within a couple of summers.
We will sell it for exterior use where the sign is genuinely temporary, and we will tell you the timeline first.
Premium appearance, glossy or frosted, ideal for interiors and for anything illuminated from behind. Brittle and expensive at scale, so not the right pick for a large exposed exterior panel.
For post-mounted signs, parking and traffic signage, and anything needing genuine rigidity in a smaller format where ACM would flex.
Corrugated plastic. Cheapest, lightest, effectively disposable. Yard signs, short-term site notices, event directionals. Six to twelve months outdoors.
Most permanent exterior signage in Collin County cities requires a permit. Cities regulate maximum sign area per building frontage, maximum height, illumination, setback from the property line, and, in some districts, the materials and colours themselves.
Monument signs almost always require a permit and usually a structural drawing. Wall signs above a certain size do too. Illuminated signage brings electrical inspection into it.
The practical consequences people do not expect:
Your total permitted sign area is finite and shared. If you already have a fascia sign and a monument sign, adding a large wall graphic may push you over the limit, and the city can require removal after it is installed and paid for.
Landlord approval is usually needed as well, and shopping centre leases frequently impose stricter rules than the city does.
Permitting timelines sit outside anyone’s control. Our published lead times cover fabrication only. That is why monument signs run 3 to 4 weeks minimum and can run considerably longer.
Interior signage, vehicle graphics, window vinyl, and temporary signage generally do not require a permit, though your lease may still have something to say about them.
Dimensional letters typically cost $30 to $80 per letter in PVC, $50 to $150 in painted or laminated acrylic, $80 to $300 in brushed or painted aluminium, and $200 to $500 per letter for halo-lit illuminated letters. iCandy Grafix quotes by letter height, material, depth and mounting method rather than strictly per character.
Most permanent exterior signage requires a city permit, and cities set limits on total sign area per frontage, height and illumination. Interior signs, vehicle graphics and window vinyl usually do not. iCandy Grafix can supply the scaled drawings and material specifications your permit application needs.
Flat panel signs take 5 to 10 business days at iCandy Grafix, dimensional letter signs 2 to 3 weeks, illuminated signs 2 to 3 weeks, and monument signs 3 to 4 weeks including permitting. Real estate signs and magnetics are faster at 2 to 5 days.
Aluminium composite panel is the best all-round material for flat exterior signage. It stays rigid, will not rot, rust or warp, and handles Texas sun and humidity well. PVC is cheaper but bows outdoors within a couple of summers, and acrylic is better suited to interiors.

Often yes, and it costs far less than a new sign. Send photographs of the cabinet or panel including the retaining channels, and measure the visible opening rather than the outside of the frame. See backlit film for illuminated cabinet faces.
Yes. Tenant directory boards, suite signage, wayfinding and consistent tenant panel systems are regular work. iCandy Grafix can set up a specification so each new tenant’s signage matches the building standard rather than arriving from a different supplier each time.
